The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) has said more than 850 million doses of the Sputnik V vaccine are going to be produced annually in India, which has also given approval for the emergency use of the vaccine against coronavirus infections in the country. The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has registered the vaccine under the emergency use authorisation procedure. This is based on results of clinical trials in Russia as well as positive data of additional Phase III local clinical trials in India conducted in partnership with Dr Reddy's Laboratories.

Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine efficacy: A day after the Centre's expert panel cleared Russia's Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine for emergency use, the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has granted emergency use authorisation for the drug. The vaccine would be imported from Russia for emergency use in the country. Before this, two vaccines were authorized for usage by the regulator -- Covaxin of Bharat Biotech and Covishield of Oxford-AstraZeneca, being manufactured by Serum Institute of India in Pune.

Tourists visiting Himachal Pradesh will not be "harassed" for a coronavirus negative test report on the state's borders, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said on Tuesday. Days after the state government announced making it mandatory for people coming from seven worst-affected states to show a COVID-19 negative test report on entering the state, Thakur said they have put in place a mechanism for monitoring tourists on their arrival at the place of their stay.

BJP MLA Yogesh Verma and former block chief Pawan Gupta were involved in a fracas over the candidature of their loyalists in the ongoing panchayat elections, and have now been booked by the police following cross complaints.
