Bengal polls 2021: PM Modi, Amit Shah to hold multiple rallies today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address several public programs in poll-bound West Bengal on Monday. At 12:00 noon, the Prime Minister will address an election rally at Talit Sai Centre in Purba Bardhaman district. After that, he will also hold rallies in Kalyani University Grounds in Nadia district at 1.40 pm and the Barasat area of the North 24 Parganas district at 3.10 pm.

Kumbh Mela: Massive crowds gather at Har Ki Pauri; IG says 'difficult to ensure social distancing'

Kumbh Mela Inspector General (IG) Sanjay Gunjyal admitted it is difficult to ensure social distancing norms during the second 'Shahi snan' where massive crowds have gathered to take a holy dip in River Ganga at Har Ki Pauri in Uttarakhand's Haridwar. "We are continuously appealing to people to follow COVID-19 appropriate behaviour. But due to the huge crowd, it is practically not possible to issue challans today. It is very difficult to ensure social distancing at ghats," Gunjyal said.

Containment zone not strictly followed, RTPCR decreasing: Centre tells Chattisgarh

The Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has written a letter to the Government of Chhattisgarh which says containment zone is not strictly followed and RTPCR tests are also decreasing in the state. "The team from Raipur, Jashpur has reported a lack of perimeter control in containment zones. There appears to be no restriction on the movement of people inside containment zones too. Hence, Containment Zone including micro Containment Zones need to be strictly implemented. Contact tracing efforts need to be reinforced in Korba. Resistance (even attacks on healthcare workers) to containment activities and testing was reported by the team from Dhaneli Village, Raipur. This needs to be addressed on an urgent basis," Bhushan said in the letter.

Over 27 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses administered on first day of ‘tika utsav’: Government

On the first day of ‘tika utsav’, more than 27 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered till Sunday evening, taking the cumulative number of doses given in the country to 10,43,65,035, the Union health ministry said. The tika utsav refers to COVID-19 vaccination drive between April 11 and 14.

COVID-19: Vaccination to resume at 62 private hospitals in Mumbai from today

With the fresh stock of anti-COVID 19 vaccines being made available by the Mumbai civicbody, the halted vaccination drive will resume at 62 of the 71 designated private hospitals in the megapolis from today, municipal commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal said on Sunday. In Mumbai, 49 civic and government-run institutions are designated as vaccination centres while 71 private hospitals have the facility to administer the anti-COVID 19 vaccines.
