PM Modi to interact with CMs over COVID-19 situation, vaccination drive today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with Chief Ministers of all states and UTs virtually on Thursday to discuss the ongoing Covid-19 situation and vaccination strategy in the country. The meeting comes in the midst of steep rise in fresh infections. The meeting will take place at around 6:30 PM.   PM Modi’s last interaction with the Chief Ministers was on March 17. He had expressed concern over the rise in Covid-19 cases in parts of the country and called for quick and decisive steps to check the emerging second peak.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday took second dose of COVID-19 vaccine at AIIMS, Delhi and asked those eligible for the shot to take it soon to defeat the virus. He had taken his first jab on March 1 at the hospital.

Labourers losing jobs amid resurgence of COVID-19 pandemic

The labourers have started losing jobs amid the Covid-19 resurgence across the country. Fentus Kumar (29), a native of Bihar's Khagaria district, came with his group of 45 fellow labourers from Hanumangarh district in Rajasthan. "Since the manufacturing unit where we were working was partially operational so our employer asked us to return to home. The company is not receiving ample amount of work orders, therefore, limited labourers were required," Fentus said while waiting for Katihar bound train to Khagaria at Patna after reaching from Delhi.

Indian Railways to resume services of Shatabdi, Duronto and Humsafar trains – FULL LIST

The Northern Railway will soon begin operations of four Shatabdi Express, Duronto Express and Humsafar trains to ease the movement of passengers. Passengers with confirmed tickets will only be allowed to travel and all Covid-19 related protocols will be followed. Four Shatabdi Express and one pair each of Hamsafar and Duronto will begin services from April 10.

CBI registers PE on orders of Bombay HC against Deshmukh

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a preliminary enquiry (PE) into the allegations of corruption and misconduct levelled by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh against ex-Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. CBI will also record a statement of complainant Dr Jaishri Patil in connection with the corruption case against Deshmukh.
