People's movement from containment zones won't be stopped, says Noida DM

There shall be no sealing or stopping of movement of people in areas declared as containment zones in Gautam Buddh Nagar, officials said on Monday but urged residents to exercise restraint and follow COVID-19 protocols. District Magistrate Suhas LY made the appeal in the wake of the Uttar Pradesh government redefining the range of containment zones for medical surveillance through an order issued on Saturday amid a surge in coronavirus cases in the state once again.

Night curfew in 20 Gujarat cities amid COVID-19 case surge

Night curfew will be imposed in 20 cities of Gujarat between 8 pm to 6 am from Wednesday till April 30, informed Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Tuesday. The cities where night curfew will be imposed are Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, Junagadh, Gandhinagar, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Anand, Nadiad, Mehsana, Morbi, Patan, Godhra, Dahod, Bhuj, Gandhidham, Bharuch, Surendranagar, and Amreli.

Gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari brought back to Banda jail

After spending over two years in a Punjab prison, gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari was brought back to Banda jail early Wednesday morning. He was ferried in an ambulance guarded by a strong posse of gun-toting security personnel throughout his 900-km journey from Rupnagar to this Uttar Pradesh town in the Bundelkhand region. Acting on a Supreme Court order, the Uttar Pradesh Police took custody of the 57-year-old BSP MLA at Rupnagar jail on Tuesday to bring him back to Banda prison.
