As many as 40 doctors, including Vice-Chancellor Lt Gen (retd) Vipin Puri, have tested positive for the novel coronavirus at Lucknow's King George's Medical University (KGMU). According to the details, the Vice-Chancellor was administered the second dose of the coronavirus vaccine on March 25, yet he has now tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time since August last year.

Renowned journalist-author Fatima R Zakaria dies of COVID-19
Veteran journalist Fatima R. Zakaria, the former Editor of the Sunday Times, Mumbai, and mother of renowned global media personality Fareed R. Zakaria, passed away here on Tuesday due to Covid at a private hospital, a close family friend said. Fatima R. Zakaria was the widow of former Maharashtra Minister and Islamic scholar Dr. Rafiq Zakaria, and had been admitted to a local hospital since the past few days, Aurangabad AIMIM MP Syed Imtiaz Jaleel told IANS.

At 1,15,736, India records highest single day COVID-19 spike so far
India on Wednesday recorded as many as 1,15,736 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the highest number of daily cases ever since the pandemic began, according to Union Health Ministry. Of these, nearly 55,000 cases were detected in Maharashtra, while Chhattisgarh scaled a new peak of 9,921 cases. As many as 630 deaths were reported across the country over the past 24 hours, taking the total coronavirus death count in India to 1,66,177.

People's movement from containment zones won't be stopped, says Noida DM
There shall be no sealing or stopping of movement of people in areas declared as containment zones in Gautam Buddh Nagar, officials said on Monday but urged residents to exercise restraint and follow COVID-19 protocols. District Magistrate Suhas LY made the appeal in the wake of the Uttar Pradesh government redefining the range of containment zones for medical surveillance through an order issued on Saturday amid a surge in coronavirus cases in the state once again.
