Nearly 70 students at IIT Jodhpur test positive for COVID-19 so far

Nearly 70 students at IIT Jodhpur in Rajasthan have tested positive for the novel coronavirus so far. Commenting on the present situation, Deputy CMHO P Singh said out of all the cases, there are nearly 60 active cases. "Block G3 on campus has been declared a micro-containment zone," he said, adding, "most of those found positive have a travel history from Chandigarh, Gujarat and Jaipur.

Haryana imposes restrictions on gatherings amid COVID-19 case surge

Amid the rising cases of COVID-19 in the state, the Haryana government has imposed restrictions on gatherings, informed state Home Minister Anil Vij on Sunday evening. "Keeping in view growing cases of coronavirus, Haryana government has imposed restrictions on gatherings. In indoor, a maximum of 50 per cent of the hall capacity will be allowed with a ceiling of 200 persons. In open gatherings, 500 persons will be allowed. For funerals up to only 50 persons will be permitted," Vij tweeted.

COVID-19: Night curfew in Rajasthan from tonight; RT-PCR tests mandatory for travellers

In a bid to tackle the spike in coronavirus cases, the Rajasthan government imposed a night curfew and ordered the closure of multiplexes, gymnasiums besides suspending Classes 1 to 9 at schools from April 5 to 19, a statement said. According to the guidelines issued by Principal Secretary (Home) Abhay Kumar, the government also restricted the number of people at social gatherings to a maximum of 100.

Urban areas where any COVID-19 patient is found will be declared a containment zone: UP chief secy

In a letter to district officials, top police officers, and chief medical officers, Uttar Pradesh chief secretary RK Tiwari on Sunday instructed that if any COVID-19 patient is found in urban areas, the area will be declared as a Containment Zone.

In the wake of the deadly Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh's Bastar region that claimed the lives of 22 security personnel, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday said the morale of jawans is high and the operation against Naxals will continue. Talking to reporters this evening at Raipur airport after returning from Assam, Baghel said that Maoists are fighting their last battle now and they will be eliminated very soon. He added that the work of setting up camps of security forces in the Naxal stronghold areas in the state will be expedited.
