No intelligence or operational failure, nearly 30 Naxals killed in Bijapur: CRPF

CRPF Chief Kuldiep Singh has said that there was no intelligence or operational failure in the operation in Chhattisgarh that claimed lives 22 security personnel. He added that around 25-30 Maoists were also killed though the exact number is yet to be ascertained.

UP Police team on way to bring back Mukhtar Ansari

A special police team left for Punjab on Monday to take custody of mafia don and Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Mukhtar Ansari and bring him back from the Ropar jail to Uttar Pradesh's Banda jail. Inspector General Chitrakoot K. Satyanarayana said, "After reaching Ropar in Punjab, the team will complete the paper formalities to take his custody and bring him back. Adequate security force is being sent to bring him back to UP safely."

India breaches 1-lakh daily COVID-19 case mark; highest single day spike since September

Reaching a grim milestone, India's COVID-19 daily count crossed the 1 lakh mark on Sunday. The previous high was achieved on September 16 last year, when 97,894 positive cases were reported in a day. The numbers had started sliding thereafter and the decline continued for five months before a surge, described as a “second wave”, began. India breached the 1 lakh COVID-19 case mark on a day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi had chaired a review meeting on the present coronavirus situation in the country.

Nearly 70 students at IIT Jodhpur test positive for COVID-19 so far

Nearly 70 students at IIT Jodhpur in Rajasthan have tested positive for the novel coronavirus so far. Commenting on the present situation, Deputy CMHO P Singh said out of all the cases, there are nearly 60 active cases. "Block G3 on campus has been declared a micro-containment zone," he said, adding, "most of those found positive have a travel history from Chandigarh, Gujarat and Jaipur.
