Pune night curfew from tomorrow; restaurants, hotels shut for 7 days as Covid cases surge
Pune, one of the worst affected cities in Maharashtra by Covid-19, has decided to impose night curfew from 6pm to 6 am starting tomorrow (Saturday, April 3). Hotels, restaurants, bars, shopping malls, markets and religious places will also remain close for at least one week, the Pune district administration has announced.

Over 36 lakh people vaccinated in 24 hours, highest so far in one day
More than 36.7 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours, the highest single-day coverage till now, the Union Health ministry said on Friday. Of the 36,71,242 vaccine doses, 33,65,597 beneficiaries were vaccinated across 51,215 sessions for the first dose and 3,05,645 beneficiaries received the second dose of vaccine, the Health ministry said in a statement. The ministry said this is the highest single-day vaccine coverageátill now.

Complete lockdown in Chhattisgarh's Durg from April 6 to 14, essential services exempted
In view of rising cases of coronavirus, the Chhattisgarh government on Friday announced that it will impose a complete lockdown in the Durg district for nine days. Durg Collector Sarveshwar Bhure said that the complete lockdown will be imposed between April 6 to 14 in light of the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the district.

DGCI grants approval for clinical trials for third dose of Covaxin
The expert panel of India's drug regulator, DCGI, has permitted Bharat Biotech to give the third dose of Covaxin to a few volunteers in its clinical trials of the COVID-19 vaccine, sources said. Bharat Biotech presented amendments to the subject expert committee of the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) in the approved Phase 2 clinical trial protocol for administration of booster dose six months after the second dose.
