IT dept detects Rs 700 cr tax evasion after raids on Hyderabad-based realty developers

The Income Tax Department on Wednesday claimed to have detected tax evasion of about ₹ 700 crore after it raided two real estate developers based in Hyderabad recently.

India records 72,330 new COVID-19 cases, 459 deaths, biggest 1-day spike since early October

India on Thursday reported over 70,000 new COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours, according to Health Ministry. As many as 72,330 new Covid-19 cases were recorded, as per the Union health ministry. Of the 72,330 new infections, 39,544 cases were reported from Maharashtra. Chhattisgarh recorded its highest ever count, with 4,563 cases. Karnataka also reported over 4,000 cases.

Third phase of Covid-19 vaccination for all above 45 years from today

The third phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive for 65 lakh people aged above 45 will begin on Thursday. The first phase, starting January 16, covered healthcare workers and frontline workers while jabs were given to persons aged 60 and above, and those in 45-59 age bracket with comorbidities in the second phase from March 1.

Maharashtra slashes by half COVID-19 testing charges to ₹ 500

The Maharashtra government on Wednesday brought down the rates of coronavirus RT-PCR tests to ₹ 500 from ₹ 1,000. The charges for rapid antigen tests were also brought down. State Health Minister Rajesh Tope made the announcement.

New labour codes unlikely to be implemented from April 1: Report

The government has deferred the implementation of four labour codes that were enacted by the Parliament. The four labour codes are -- Industrial Relations Code, 2020; the Code on Social Security, 2020; the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020; Code on Wages.
