Delhi police detain 55 suspicious roamers, 2 others for publicly consuming alcohol in Karol Bagh

In a bid to prevent street crime, Delhi Police conducted a five-hour-long cordon-and-search operation in Karol Bagh and detained 55 people found roaming around suspiciously in the area, officials said on Monday. The operation involving around 100 personnel, including those of paramilitary forces, was conducted on Sunday from 7 pm till midnight, they said.

Water supply restored in maximum affected areas, says Delhi Jal Board

Water supply was restored to around 90 per cent of the areas affected by a pipeline repair work in the trans-Yamuna region on Monday morning, even as some residential colonies complained of getting dirty and smelly water. The supply was hit in many localities of east and north-east Delhi over the weekend due to the repair undertaken by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB).

J&K: Firing between terrorists, security forces resumes in Shopian as encounter enters third day

After a lull of 24 hours, firing resumed between the terrorists and security forces at Rawalpora in South Kashmir's Shopian district, officials said on Monday. "Encounter resumes at Rawalpora in Shopian," police said. The encounter, which has entered its third day, started on Saturday after specific inputs regarding the presence of terrorists. A joint cordon and search operation was launched by the police, army's 34 RR and the CRPF.

Bihar: 5 of family charred to death in house fire

In a tragic incident, five members of a family, including four minors, were charred to death when a fire broke out in their house in Bihar's Kishanganj on Monday, officials said. All the five were asleep when the fire erupted at their residence in Salam colony at around 3 am, sub-divisional magistrate Shahnawaz Ahmad Niyazi said.

India records 26,291 new COVID cases, highest single-day rise in 85 days

India recorded 26,291 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, its highest single-day spike in 85 days, taking the country's infection tally to 1,13,85,339, according to Union health ministry data. The death toll due to the disease increased to 1,58,725 with 118 more fatalities being recorded in a day, the data updated at 8 am showed.

NIA searches 7 locations across Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala in terror probe
