Over 4 lakh beggars in India, West Bengal ranks top, says govt

India has over 4 lakh beggars, with the highest 81,244 beggars in West Bengal, while Lakshadweep merely has two vagrants according to the 2011 census, Union Social Justice Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot informed the Rajya Sabha.

India records 22,854 new COVID cases, 126 deaths in a day, highest in nearly two-and-half-months

India recorded 22,854 cases of coronavirus infection in a day, the highest in around two-and-half-months, taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 1,12,85,561, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.
