The Cabinet Committee on Security on Wednesday approved the acquisition of 83 indigenously manufactured fourth-generation Tejas jet fighters from Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd for the Indian Air Force. This is the biggest ever indigenous military deal worth Rs 46,898 crore. Delivery of the single-engine Tejas Mark 1-A fighter jets will begin in three years.

No Bird Flu detected in Delhi's poultry, all samples taken from Ghazipur market test negative

All 100 samples taken from the Ghazipur poultry mandi, Asia's largest chicken market, have tested negative for bird flu, officials said on Thursday. The results come three days after samples taken from crows and ducks in the national capital tested positive for avian influenza.

Bihar CM can't sleep without counting 100-150 corpses: Tejashwi Yadav slams Nitish Kumar

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday hit out at the Nitish Kumar-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Bihar over deteriorating law and order in the state. Yadav shared a news report of an RJD MLA's relative being attacked, saying that the Chief Minister cannot go to sleep without counting 100 to 150 corpses every day.

Over 3 lakh healthcare workers to get vaccine shots on day 1 of COVID-19 inoculation drive

Around 3 lakh healthcare workers will be inoculated at 2,934 sites across the country on the first day of the massive nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive which is set to begin from January 16, official sources said. Each vaccination session will cater to a maximum of 100 beneficiaries and the Union Health Ministry has advised states not to organise "unreasonable numbers of vaccination per site per day".

With over 16,000 new cases, India's Covid tally crosses 1.5 crore-mark. Check state-wise list

As many as 16,946 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases to 1,05,12,093, as per Union Health Ministry's latest bulletin released on Thursday. With this, the COVID-19 tally crossed the 1.5 crore-mark while the active cases stand at 2,13,603.
