62 teachers test COVID-19 positive as schools reopen in Maharashtra's Nashik

Schools for students studying in Classes 9 to 12 reopened in Nashik district of Maharashtra on Monday after a gap of more than nine months. With the development, as many as 62 teachers at the school tested positive for COVID-19 before resuming duties, officials said. Out of the 1,324 schools in rural Nashik and city limits, as many as 846 started classes for students of standards 9 to 12, said a release from the district administration.

Ghaziabad: Absconding contractor accused in cemetery mishap case arrested from Muradnagar

The Ghaziabad police have arrested Ajay Tyagi, the main contractor of the cemetery in Muradnagar where 25 people lost their lives after the roof of the structure collapsed. Tyagi was arrested after a day-long search operation at all anticipated places of his hiding. Three more UK returnees test positive for new Britain strain in Tamil Nadu

Three more returnees from the United Kingdom have tested postive for the new Britain COVID-19 strain, genomic analysis has confirmed, Tamil Nadu government said on Monday. With this, the number of UK returnees who have tested positive for the new variant in the state has gone up to four. A youth, who returned from the UK had recently tested positive for the new strain found in Britain.

UP to conduct dry run of COVID-19 vaccination from today

Six cities of Uttar Pradesh will undergo a dry run from today, to assess the readiness of the mechanism laid out for the imminent COVID-19 immunisation drive, the state government said on Sunday. In a statement, the government said the dry run will start at 10 am in three urban and as many rural sites with a minimum of two sessions.

HC allows termination of 25-week pregnancy as foetus unlikely to survive with abnormalities

The Delhi High Court Monday granted permission to a woman for medical termination of her 25-week pregnancy as the survival of the foetus, suffering from serious abnormalities, is unlikely. The high court allowed the petition by the 25-year-old pregnant woman who was seeking permission to abort the foetus on the ground that it was suffering from Bilateral Agenesis and Anlyaramni, considering the report of AIIMS that the condition is poor and “survival of foetus is unlikely”.
