Tamil Nadu govt permits 100% occupancy in theatres, cinemas, multiplexes

Tamil Nadu Government on Monday permitted to increase the seating capacity of cinemas, theatres, multiplexes from existing 50% to 100% following COVID-19 protocols. The state government of Tamil Nadu had granted permission to cinema theatres and multiplexes to reopen with 50 per cent seating capacity from November 10.

Taking Covid-19 vaccine mandatory in India? Here's what Health Ministry says

India has approved two vaccines against coronavirus for emergency use. The vaccines are -- AstraZeneca-Oxford (Covishield) and Bharat Biotech (Covaxin). Covishield and Covaxin have to be administered in two doses and can be stored at 2-8 degree Celsius. The Drugs Controller General of India has also granted permission to Cadila healthcare for phase 3 clinical trial in India.

60,000 babies born in India on New Year’s Day this year, highest in the world

India saw the highest number of births in the world on new year's day at nearly 60,000, much more than any other country.  The number of births, however, is 7,390 less than 2020.  According to estimates of UNICEF, India is followed by China with half as many births – 35,615 – on January 1 this year.

Minimum temperatures hover above normal limits in Haryana, Punjab

Most parts of Haryana and Punjab recorded above-normal minimum temperatures on Monday, an official of the Meteorological Department in Chandigarh said. Chandigarh, the joint capital of the two states, recorded a low of 12.5 degrees Celsius, seven notches above normal, the official said.
