COVID-19 vaccine to be provided free of cost across country, says Health Minister

As India on Saturday began the dry run for COVID-19 vaccinations across states and union territories, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said the coronavirus vaccine will be provided free of cost in the national capital. On being asked about the same, Jain said, "Yes, medicines and treatment are being provided for free in Delhi, anyway." Commenting on the development, Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan said, "Not just in Delhi, it will be free across the country."

NDRF, IAF choppers continue to battle wildfire in Nagaland's Dzukou valley

As many as 60 personnel of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were on Saturdaydeployed to extinguish the wildfire in the scenic Dzukou range in Nagaland's Kohima district. The wildfire broke out in Dzukou range in which the majestic Dzukou valley, a tourist hot spot in Nagaland is located, on Tuesday afternoon. On Friday, authorities had deployed an Indian Air Force Mi-17 V5 helicopter for the firefighting mission at the Dzuko valley, along with a C-130J Hercules aircraft, which airlifted 9 tonnes load with 48 NDRF personnel from Guwahati to Dimapur.

Bird flu virus detected in dead crows in Indore

Bird flu virus has been detected in around 50 crows whose carcasses were found in the city three days ago, putting the authorities on alert, a civic health official said on Friday. The authorities have now launched a drive to identify those with suspected flu symptoms in the area. "Nearly fifty crows were found dead on the campus of Daly College on Tuesday. Some of the carcasses were sent for tests to Bhopal. They were found to be carrying the H5N8 virus," Indore Chief Medical and Health Officer Poornima Gadaria told PTI.
