COVID-19 positive Nagpur man with UK travel history suspected of carrying new strain

A 28-year-old man in Nagpur, who tested positive for COVID-19 on December 15, is suspected of carrying the new strain of COVID-19 found in the United Kingdom. As per Dr Avinash Gawande, Superintendent, Government Medical College Nagpur, the patient, who returned from the UK on November 29, was tested at the airport on arrival but was found COVID-19 negative at the time.

India's coronavirus caseload rises to 1.01 crore with 24,712 fresh cases in 24 hours

India on Thursday recorded 24,712 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the country's total tally to 1,01,23,778, according to the Union Health Ministry's data. The national recovery rate is now at 95.75%. The death toll has climbed to 1,46,756 with 312 new deaths in a span of 24 hours.
