Karnataka: BMTC, KSRTC, autorickshaws, cabs to operate during night curfew

As the Karnataka government announced night curfew across the state, Transport Minister Laxman Savadi on Thursday said that the buses of Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation and Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation will operate during night curfew. Besides, autorickshaws and cabs will also be allowed to continue their services between 11 pm and 5 am.

New Covid strain: Goa to locate 602 people who arrived state from UK, UAE since Dec 9

In the wake of detection of a new COVID-19 variant in the UK, Goa health authorities are trying to track down 602 people who arrived in the state from Britain and the UAE since December 9, an official said on Thursday. The maximum number of people who have arrived from these two places are expected to be in Cansualim area of South Goa district, predominantly a beach destination, he said.

Farmers protesting at Delhi borders remain resolute in seeking repeal of new agri laws

Braving harsh cold, thousands of agitating farmers at the Delhi borders on Thursday remained steadfast in their demands to repeal the Centre's three new agri laws. Dense fog reduced visibility to just 100 metres in parts of Delhi on Thursday, affecting traffic movement, the India Meteorological Department said, adding the minimum temperature at the Safdarjung Observatory, which provides representative data for the city, settled at 4.5 degrees Celsius.

COVID-19 positive Nagpur man with UK travel history suspected of carrying new strain

A 28-year-old man in Nagpur, who tested positive for COVID-19 on December 15, is suspected of carrying the new strain of COVID-19 found in the United Kingdom. As per Dr Avinash Gawande, Superintendent, Government Medical College Nagpur, the patient, who returned from the UK on November 29, was tested at the airport on arrival but was found COVID-19 negative at the time.
