Bengal BJP worker shot dead in broad daylight; family accuses TMC

A worker of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was shot dead in West Bengal on Tuesday. According to the details, the incident was reported from North 24 Parganas district’s Madhyamgram at nearly 11 am. The deceased was identified as Ashok Sardar, a resident of Narayanpur in the district. Sources said Sardar was shot in his chest and legs several times, while he was supervising work in Madhyamgram’s Rajbari area. Following the incident, Sardar was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Tamil Nadu grants permission to hold Jallikattu event with certain restrictions, check SOPs

The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday granted permission to hold Jallikattu event but with certain restrictions even as the pandemic rages on. The government in its guideline said that the number of players taking part in the event should not to be more than 150. It will be mandatory for the players to provide Covid-19 negative certificate. In addition, the number of spectators not to be more than 50% of the gathering.

Over 1.89L trees cut for Bundelkhand expressway

More than 1.89 lakh trees have been felled for the construction of the Bundelkhand expressway, according to an RTI response. The trees were cut in Banda, Chitrakoot, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Aurraiya and Etawah, it said.

UK Communications Regulator Ofcom imposes 20,000 pound fine on Republic Bharat

The British TV regulatory has imposed a fine of 20,000 pound (nearly Rs 19.7 lakh) on Worldwide Media Network Limited, which operates Hindi news channel Republic Bharat in the country. Ofcom (Office of Communications) is a British government-approved regulatory and competition authority for broadcasting, telecommunications and postal industries in the country.

Former BJP minister Sham Lal Choudhary lost by a razor-thin margin of 11 votes in Suchetgarh constituency of Jammu district in the maiden District Development Council (DDC) election, officials said on Wednesday.
