28 years on, CBI court finds catholic priest, nun guilty in sister Abhaya murder case

A CBI court in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday found a catholic priest and a nun guilty in connection with the murder of 21-year-old Sister Abhaya, whose body was found in the well of a convent in Kottayam in 1992. The judgement comes 28 years after the young nun was found dead in the well of St Pius convent, where she stayed. The verdict in this regard was pronounced by CBI special court judge J Sanal Kumar.

Rohtak-based contractor robbed of his car at gunpoint near Dwarka Expressway

Two unidentified miscreants snatched a car belonging to a Rohtak-based contractor at gunpoint near Dhankot village on the Dwarka Expressway on Sunday night.  The victim has been identified as Naveen Kumar, a native of Rohtak currently residing in Sector-15 in Gurugram.

Bharat Biotech on Tuesday announced successful recruitment of 13,000 volunteers and continued progress towards achieving the goal of 26,000 participants for Phase-3 clinical trial of first Make in India vaccine candidate, Covaxin across multiple sites in India. This is India’s first and only Phase 3 efficacy study for a COVID-19 vaccine, and the largest phase III efficacy trial ever conducted for any vaccine in India.

Jammu and Kashmir DDC election results 2020: Full list of winners

Counting of votes is underway to decide the fate of 2,178 candidates in the fray for the maiden District Development Council (DDC) elections in Jammu and Kashmir. The process will bring to an end the eight-phase polling process which was spread over 25 days. There are 280 DDC seats -- 14 in each of the 20 districts of the union territory.

Hathras case: Gangrape can't be ruled out, says AIIMS report

A report by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences' (AIIMS) regarding the Hathras case has suggested sexual assault on the 19-year-old victim cannot be ruled out. The pattern of injuries sustained during sexual violence may show considerable variations, the report, submitted to the CBI has stated. The revelations have been made in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) charge sheet filed against the accused for gang rape and murder in a Hathras court.

Mumbai civic body prepares blueprint for Covid-19 vaccine distribution, storage plan

As India may begin its COVID-19 vaccination drive as early as January 2021, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has prepared a vaccine administration, distribution and storage plan. The civic body has identified eight hospitals as Covid-19 vaccination centres — KEM Hospital, Sion Hospital, Nair Hospital, Cooper Hospital, Bandra Bhabha Hospital, VN Desai Hospital, Rajawadi Hospital and Bharat Ratna Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital and aims to train its staff for vaccination by January 7.
