PM Modi to address centenary celebrations at AMU today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest at the virtual centenary celebrations of Aligarh Muslim University on Tuesday, where he will also address the centenary celebrations of the university, via video conferencing. This will be the first time in 56 years that an Indian prime minister will be attending an event at the AMU. According to a university official, PM Modi will release a special postal stamp to mark the occasion.

12 terrorists surrendered during encounters in Jammu and Kashmir this year

As many as twelve terrorists have surrendered during live encounters with security forces this year, Vijay Kumar, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir said. Earlier today, two local terrorists affiliated with terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) surrendered on appeal of families during the encounter with security forces in Kulgam.

Farmer unions convene key meet today to decide on Centre's fresh offer for talks

Farmer unions have called a key meet on Tuesday to discuss the Centre's latest offer to hold talks on the new farm laws. Daily Covid-19 count falls below 20,000; active cases under 3 lakh after 163 days

India's COVID-19 caseload rose to 1,00,75,116 on Tuesday, with 19,556 new infections being reported in a day, while the number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 96,36,487 pushing the national recovery rate to 95.65 per cent, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday. The death toll increased to 1,46,111 with 301 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed.

Five charred to death after container truck hits car on Yamuna Expressway in Agra
