India, Vietnam expected to ink pacts to expand ties at virtual summit today

India and Vietnam are likely to seal a number of agreements and make certain announcements to further expand overall ties including in areas of defence, energy and healthcare at a virtual summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Monday, official sources said.

India's Covid deaths per million one of the lowest globally, says Health Ministry

India continues to witness a declining trend in average daily new deaths due to coronavirus amid decreasing new cases in the past few weeks. According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), with only 351 average daily COVID-19 fatalities reported between December 14-20, India continues to have one of the lowest deaths per million.

In a series of frequently asked questions (FAQs) for its trials, Bharat Biotech said BBV-152 is a whole-virion inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine. Amongst all the vaccine platforms such as an mRNA-based vaccine, DNA-based vaccine, vector-based vaccine, or live attenuated vaccines, etc., the inactivated vaccines are safest, and hence, the adverse reactions are lesser.

CAA rules to be considered once COVID vaccination begins: Amit Shah in Bengal

Maharashtra: Exchange plastic waste for food coupons in KDMC

In a bid to encourage citizens towards proper disposal of plastic waste, the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation here has introduced a scheme of giving food coupons to people on collection of 5 kg of such waste. The scheme has been introduced as part of KDMC's zero garbage policy, said an official from the waste management department of the civic body here in Maharashtra.

Asymptomatic COVID positive air crew would undergo home isolation for 10 days: DGCA

Flight crew members who are asymptomatic but test positive for COVID-19 need to undergo home isolation for 10 days and once it is over, they can be declared fit for flying again by their medical supervisor, according to aviation regulator DGCA. If COVID-positive crew members have 'mild symptoms', they will "continue home isolation and will stand discharged after 10 days of symptom onset and no fever for three days", the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a circular, adding there is no need for "testing after the home isolation period is over".
