In a bid to strengthen Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) campaign ahead of the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Kolkata at around 1 am on Saturday for his two-day visit to the state. During his two-day visit, the Home Minister is schedule to hold roadshows and attend public rallies on Sunday.

Delhi's iconic Sunder Nursery, a 90-acre garden which was transformed into a horticultural paradise after a decade-long conservation work, is among the winners in the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation this year. Also, Koothambalam at Guruvayoor Temple in Kerala's Thrissur has been chosen in the Award of Distinction category.

Farmers' agitation not affiliated to any political party: Farm union writes to PM, Tomar

In letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee on Saturday asserted the ongoing farmers' protests are not affiliated to any political party. In separate letters in Hindi to Modi and Tomar, the AIKSCC said that the government is wrong in assuming that the farmers' agitation against the three farm laws is being engineered by opposition parties. It comes a day after the prime minister accused the opposition parties of misleading farmers over the three farm laws.

Trust unveils design of futuristic Ayodhya mosque, grand hospital | See pics

The design of a mosque and a hospital to be built on a five-acre land in Ayodhya's Dhannipur village allocated by the Supreme Court in the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case was unveiled on Saturday at the IICF office. The Uttar Pradesh State Sunni Central Waqf Board had formed the trust, Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF), to construct the mosque and other utilities on the plot. Prof SM Akhtar of Jamia Millia Islamia, who joined the programme through video conferencing, displayed the designs of the mosque and the 200-bed hospital that will come up at the site.

Govt must indemnify vaccine makers against all lawsuits: Adar Poonawalla

Vaccine manufacturers need to have protection against all lawsuits for their vaccines especially during a pandemic, Serum Institute of India (SII) Chief Executive Officer Adar Poonawalla has said. He also said that the vaccine makers are going to propose this to the government while speaking at a virtual panel on the challenges of developing a COVID-19 vaccine at the Carnegie India's Global Technology Summit on Friday.
