After Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the BJP of trying to import Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM in the poll-bound state to sharpen the communal polarization so that they can divide the Hindu-Muslim votes among themselves, The All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief on Wednesday said never was a man born who can buy him with money and asked the TMC chief to worry about the defections from her party.

Setback for Maharashtra govt as Bombay High Court stays metro car shed project

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday stayed the metro car shed project at Mumbai's Kanjur Marg and asked the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to maintain the status quo. Earlier on Monday, the high court had asked the Maharashtra government to consider withdrawing the order passed by the Mumbai Suburban District Collector, allotting 102 acres of saltpan land for the construction of a Metro car shed. Following this, the state government today said it was ready to take back its October 15 order of land allotment to MMRDA for Metro car shed at Kanjur Marg.

Owaisi meets key UP leader at Lucknow hotel, triggers talks of AIMIM contesting state polls

Buoyed by the results of Bihar assembly elections, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi is looking to spread its wings in northern states. Owaisi on Wednesday met Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief Om Prakash Rajbhar at a Lucknow hotel. The meeting between the two leaders has triggered talks of alliance between the AIMIM and SBSP for the Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. The country's most populous state will got to polls in 2022.
