India has said its vaccine production and delivery capacity will be used to help all humanity in fighting the COVID-19 crisis, which has highlighted gaps in global cooperation and underlined the need for the international community to respond to the pandemic with collaboration and not confusion. Addressing the UN General Assembly special session on COVID-19, Secretary (West) in India’s Ministry of External Affairs Vikas Swarup said on Monday the ongoing coronavirus crisis had "laid bare" the gaps that exist in global cooperation and governance structures of multilateral organisations.

No Winter Session of Parliament this year due to Covid-19: Government
There will be no Winter Session of Parliament this year due to the pandemic, the government has informed. In a letter to Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said that the government is "willing to have the next session of Parliament at the earlier".

Delhi: Vehicles without HSRP, colour-coded stickers to be fined from today. Details
Vehicles without a high-security registration plate (HSRP) and color-coded fuel stickers will be fined in Delhi today onwards. In an earlier notice, the transport department had notified the public of owning HSRP and color-coded fuel stickers and had said those vehicle owners found without these would be liable to face prosecution under the motor vehicle (MV) act. According to the notice, defaulters can be fined Rs 10,000 which is compoundable to Rs. 5,500.

With 22,065 new COVID cases, 354 deaths, India's tally crosses 99 lakh-mark
India's COVID-19 caseload crossed the 99,000,00-mark on Tuesday, while the number of people who have recuperated from the disease crossed 94,22,636, pushing the national recovery rate to 95.12 per cent, according to the Union Health Ministry data. The total coronavirus cases mounted to 99,06,165 with 22,065 new infections being reported in a day, while the death toll climbed to 1,43,709 with 354 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed.

Assam government's nod to shut down madrasas, Sanskrit schools
Government-run madrassas and Sanskrit tols (schools) in Assam will operate as any other general educational institute and a bill will be tabled during the winter session of the Assembly for the closure of the existing two formats, Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Monday. The closure of the government-run madrassas in Assam is a historic step and is aimed to secularise the entire educational system in the state, the minister said.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari today said dialogue was the only way forward to end the stalemate with protesting farmers as he urged them to understand the laws and not be misguided. “Our government is dedicated to farmers and is ready to accept the suggestions given by them. There will not be any injustice with farmers in our government. There are some elements who are trying to misguide farmers by misusing this protest. This is wrong. Farmers should try to understand the three laws,” Gadkari said.
