Mystery illness hits vegetable sales in Eluru

Leafy vegetable vendors in Eluru, the headquarters of West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh, have been witnessing a dip in their business due to the outbreak of the recent mystery illness. "Since 4-5 days, leafy vegetables are not moving. People are not coming to buy vegetables. We are just sitting with them, without any business," said a vendor.

Karnataka: 132 detained in connection with Wistron violence; 'full protection' to plant assured

As many as 132 people have so far been detained in connection with the violence at the Taiwanese Wistron Corporation manufacturing facility in Narasapura Industrial Area in Karnataka. The incident, which was reported at nearly 6 am on Saturday has strongly been condemned by the state government. Violence broke out at the Taiwanese Wistron Corporation's plant near Kolar where iPhones and other IT products are manufactured as a large number of workers went on a rampage over issues related to payment of salary, police said.

Protesting farmers threaten to intensify stir from today; security on borders enhanced | LIVE

Security at various borders across the national capital has been tightened as the protesting farmers have threatened to intensify their protest against the Centre's new agri laws and block the Jaipur-Delhi highway on Sunday. Thousands of farmers have been protesting at various border points of Delhi for over two weeks, demanding repeal of the new farm laws. They said major highways linking the national capital will be blocked from Sunday and they will sit on a hunger strike on December 14, when they have called for a nationwide protest. Adequate arrangements have made and these include multi-layered barricades and deployment of extra personnel. Measures have also been taken to ensure commuters do not face inconvenience at places were protest are being staged, a senior police officer said.
