Bharat Bandh LIVE: Farmers calls for nationwide strike today to press for their demands on farm laws

Farmers have called for a nationwide strike (Bharat Bandh) on Tuesday to protest against the three farm laws. Today is the 13th day of the farmers stir who are demanding from the government repeal the three laws which they believe are against the interest of the community. The bandh is being called by the farmers a day before the sixth round of talks between the farmers and the government. The two sides are holding talks to break the logjam, but the dialogues have yielded no positive result so far. Farmers have said that they will disrupt the supply of vegetables, foods and fruits on Tuesday. They have threatened to block key roads during their chakka jam protest from 11 am to 3 pm as part of their agitation. As many as 18 political parties including the Congress have announced support to the Bharat Bandh call.

Sharad Pawar persuaded many 'reluctant' states to implement Vajpayee govt's APMC Act: NCP

The Nationalist Congress Party on Monday said when NCP chief Sharad Pawar was the agriculture minister during the UPA regime, he persuaded many 'reluctant' states to implement the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led government's model APMC Act. NCP spokesperson Mahesh Tapase pointed this out after government sources shared content of letters Pawar wrote to many chief ministers when he was the Union minister.

Petrol, diesel prices hiked for sixth straight day: Petrol costs over Rs 90 in Mumbai, check city-wise rates

Petrol and diesel prices rose for the sixth day in a row on Monday as rates went up by 26-30 paise per litre. Petrol price was hiked by 30 paise per litre and diesel by 26 paise, according to a price notification of oil marketing companies.

Trinamool Congress not to support Bharat Bandh on Tuesday against Centre's farm laws

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has announced that it will not extend support to the Bharat Bandh call given by the farm unions to protest against the three farm laws. According to senior party leader Saugata Roy, the TMC stands with the farmers' cause, but its workers will stay away from the nationwide strike on Tuesday.

Zydus Cadila gets permission from DCGI for phase-1 clinical trial of novel molecule ZYIL1

Drug firm Zydus Cadila on Monday said it has received permission from Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) to initiate phase-1 clinical trial of its novel molecule ZYIL1, indicated for use as an inhibitor for inflammation condition 'NLRP3'. In a regulatory filing, Zydus Cadila said "it has received permission to initiate the phase 1 clinical trial of ZYIL1, a novel oral small molecule NLRP3 inhibitor candidate. NLRP3 inflammasomes are involved in the inflammation process".
