Centre plans fact-check campaign on farm laws as protests enter 12th day

Under fire from farmer organisations and the opposition parties, the Centre has decided to craft a fact-check campaign to dispel the myths over the three farm laws that are at the heart of the stir. Although the agitating farmers and the government are discussing the laws to break the logjam, the talks have yielded no positive results so far. Today is the 12th day of the farmers' stir.

Kejriwal to visit Singhu border to show solidarity with protesting farmers

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is set to visit the Singhu border (Haryana-Delhi border) today, where the farmers are protesting against the Centre's farm laws. The chief minister will also be accompanied by other ministers of the Delhi government, who will inspect the arrangements made by the government for the farmers. At the Singhu border, Kejriwal is expected to talk to the protesting farmers and will later address the media as well.

The farmers' agitation in Delhi has entered it's 12th day today, with a large number of farmers gathered in and around the national capital to protest against the three farm laws. The agitating farmers have also called for a ‘Bharat bandh’ on December 8 and threatened to intensify their agitation, block more roads occupy toll plazas leading to the national capital if the government did not accept their demands.Enacted in September, the three farm laws are anticipated to bring “reforms” in the agriculture sector by removing middlemen and allowing farmers to sell their produce anywhere in the country.

Serum Institute seeks emergency use nod for Covishield in India

The Serum Institute of India on Sunday became the first indigenous company to apply to the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) seeking emergency use authorisation for the Oxford COVID-19 vaccine in the country citing unmet medical needs due to the pandemic and in the interest of the public at large, official sources said. A day earlier, the Indian arm of US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer became the first to seek a similar approval from India's drug regulator for its own COVID-19 vaccine in the country, after securing such clearance in the UK and Bahrain.

PM Modi to virtually inaugurate construction of Agra metro project today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the construction of the Agra metro project via videoconferencing today (on Monday). According to an official statement, the inauguration will take place at 11:30 am today. Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will be among those attending the event at 15 Battalion PAC parade ground in Agra, the statement said.

Congress supports farmers' call for 'Bharat Bandh' on December 8
