PM Modi to chair all-party meeting today to review Covid situation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair an all-party meeting on Friday to discuss the coronavirus situation in the country. This is the second all-party meeting called by the government on coronavirus. The virus has infected over 94 lakh people in the country.

Govt hints at change in farm laws as farmers protest enters ninth day

The Centre has dropped ample hints that it will consider the demands of the farmers for level playing field between the APMCs and private markets or trade area outside the APMCs and other issues in the farm laws. Today is the ninth day of farmers protest. Thousands of farmers are camping at Delhi borders against the three farm laws cleared by the Parliament earlier this year.

Use Marathi in signages, ads: Maharashtra government to Konkan Railway

The Maharashtra government has asked the Konkan Railway to follow the three-language formula and use Marathi along with Hindi and English on the signages, advertisements, and in its press releases. The Marathi language department of the Maharashtra government has sent a letter to this effect to the Chief Managing Director of the Konkan Railway last week.

India records 36,594 new Covid cases, 540 deaths in a single day; tally mounts to 95.71 lakh

India's COVID-19 caseload went past 95.71 lakh on Friday with the single-day spike of 36,594 fresh infections being reported, according to the Union Health Ministry data. The total number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 90 lakh pushing the national recovery rate to 94.20 per cent.

Delhi borders closed: There seems to be no relief in sight for commuters from long traffic snarls on Friday as thousands of farmers camped out on the borders of Delhi blocked key entrances to the national capital for the ninth day on the trot. While the police has kept the Haryana-Delhi border at Singhu and Tikri closed for traffic, the protest at Ghazipur, the city's border with Uttar Pradesh, led to the closure of a key route connecting the city with the state.
