Released during pandemic, UP prisoners asked to return to jail

In a decision to not further extend the parole of convicted prisoners in the state, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has issued an order to the prison department to ensure that all convicts return to jail. It may be recalled that in May this year, the state government had released 2,256 convicts on the directives of the Supreme Court.

India recorded largest reductions in malaria cases in South-East Asia between 2000-2019: WHO

India made “strong progress” in the fight against malaria, recording the largest reduction in cases in South-East Asia from 20 million in 2000 to about 5.6 million last year, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has said. The World Malaria Report 2020, released Monday, said that in 2019, malaria cases globally numbered about 229 million, an annual estimate that has remained virtually unchanged over the last four years.

India records 31,118 new COVID cases, 482 fatalities in a day; total case tally at 94,62,810

India's COVID-19 caseload crossed the 94,62,00-mark on Tuesday, while the number of people who have recuperated from the disease crossed 88,89,585, pushing the national recovery rate to 93.94 per cent, according to the Union Health Ministry data. The total coronavirus cases mounted to 94,62,810 with 31,118 new infections being reported in a day, while the death toll climbed to 1,37,621 with 482 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed.

Delhi Traffic Police issues fresh advisory amid farmers’ protest | Check list of routes to avoid

Centre invites agitating farmers' organisations for talks today as protests enter sixth day
