Mumbai, Delhi differ on Covid-19 testing strategy: Officials

Despite Mumbai and Delhi having almost the same positivity rate, civic officials in Mumbai on Monday said the city does not require to increase its daily number of COVID-19 tests like in the national capital, which is witnessing a fresh wave of the infection.

Bengaluru: Students, teachers should present COVID negative result for college classes. Details here

Bengaluru has allowed the reopening of colleges and only those students and teachers who test COVID-19 negative would be allowed for classes, as per when the colleges reopen. In a Monday statement, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahangara Palika Commissioner N. Manjunatha Prasad said, "As per the guidelines and standard operating procedure of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the state government, students, teachers and staff will be allowed to enter the college only if their Covid test is negative."

Andhra Pradesh: Traffic violators should clear penalty dues in 2 days or face legal action, say police

A grace time of two more days has been given to more than 68,000 vehicle owners to clear their penalties. In an order, Andhra Pradesh's Prakasam district police said 68,943 vehicles owners should clear their penalties or else face legal action. Siddhartha Kaushal, Prakasam district Superintendent of Police (SP), said, "1.51 lakh vehicles have been levied a penalty of Rs 4.6 crore for violating rules in 2020 so far."

India's daily COVID-19 recoveries more than daily fresh infections for 44 days in a row

India's trend of registering daily COVID-19 recoveries outpacing the daily infections continued for the 44th day as 43,851 patients recuperated in a span of 24 hours as against 30,548 newly detected cases, the Union Health Ministry said on Monday.

Bomb blast at Imphal RIMS complex, 2 injured

Two persons were injured when a bomb exploded in the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) complex on Monday, a police officer said. A 40-year-old man and his wife who had come to the hospital for treatment were injured in the blast that occurred at around 9.30 am, near a sentry post in the RIMS complex, the officer said.

Avalanche warning issued for four districts in Kashmir

Authorities in Kashmir issued an avalanche warning in four districts of the valley on Monday as the higher reaches of the union territory received moderate to heavy snowfall, while the plains were lashed by rains. The avalanche warning has been issued in Kupwara, Bandipora and Baramulla districts of north Kashmir, and Ganderbal district in central Kashmir, officials said.
