25-year-old killed, several injured in Kanpur clash

A 25-year-old youth was killed and several injured during a clash between two communities that started over water being splashed on one of them and soon snowballed into stone pelting, police said on Monday. Police personnel, including the Provincial Armed Constabulary, have been deployed in large numbers to keep tabs on the simmering tension at Chakeri locality after the incident late Sunday evening.

7 killed as vehicle rolls down gorge in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi; PM Modi expresses grief

At least seven people were killed after a vehicle they were travelling in rolled down a gorge in Himachal Pradesh on Monday. According to the police, the incident was reported from Mandi district, where the Mahindra pickup vehicle fell into Suketi Khud (rivulet) at Pulghrat at nearly 2:30 am. One person was also injured in the accident, they said.

Himachal authorities cancel stone-pelting tradition this year due to COVID-19 pandemic

The centuries-old tradition of stone-pelting, performed by different groups in Himachal Pradesh's Dhami village to appease Goddess Kali, was given a miss this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Locals of the Dhami village, which is nearly 30 km from state capital Shimla, instead of organising the stone-pelting fair, took out a rally to the temple.

Over a dozen injured in community clash during idol immersion in UP's Ambedkar Nagar

More than a dozen people were injured as violent clashes erupted between two communities in Uttar Pradesh late on Sunday. According to the details, the incident was reported from Pahitipur Bazaar area of Ambedkar Nagar district, during the immersion of idols of Lakshmi and Ganesh. Two of those injured, identified as Sachin Gupta and Raj Tadwani, are in a serious condition and were admitted to the trauma centre in Lucknow for treatment.

Devotees throng religious places as temples, churches, mosques reopen in Maharashtra
