Devotees throng religious places as temples, churches, mosques reopen in Maharashtra

Places of religious worship in Maharashtra, which were shut since the imposition of COVID-19 lockdown in March, reopened on Monday with devotees visiting some of the prominent temples and shrines in the state. The reopening of the places of worship coincided with the Diwali ''Padwa'', which is an important festival in the state.

Kejriwal meets Amit Shah over COVID-19 situation in Delhi; says daily testing to be increased to over 1 lakh

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday attended a meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the rise in COVID-19 cases in the national capital. Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan and Delhi Lieutenant Governor Shri Anil Baijal were among others present at the meeting.  Speaking to the media, Kejriwal, after the meet, said the number of daily coronavirus tests would now be increased to over 1 lakh to 1.25 lakh. The Central government has assured the availability of 750 ICU beds at the DRDO centre, the chief minister said. Further, the Centre will also assist the Delhi government in getting BiPAP machines to increase the number of ICU beds at Delhi government facilities, Kejriwal said.

India's new Coronavirus cases hit four-month low of 30,548; active cases below 4.8 lakh

India posted its lowest daily coronavirus caseload in nearly four months, data from the health ministry showed on Monday, as new cases maintained a decreasing trend from a peak in November. India saw a single-day hike of 30,548 infections, taking the country's COVID-19 caseload to 88,45,127 while the number of people who have recovered from the disease have surged to 82 lakh, according to the Union Health Ministry data said on Monday.

Kedarnath covered in layer of snow as temperature dips; more rains, snowfall on forecast

Fresh spell of snowfall lashed the Valley and the surrounding hills on Monday following which the shrine of Kedarnath was seen covered in a layer of snow. The snowfall has also led to a dip in temperature on hills. The revered shrine is located in the Garhwal Himalayan range near the Mandakini river at about 22 kilometres uphill trek from Gaurikund.

Delhi's air quality 'severe' despite light rains; temperature to fall from today

The air quality in Delhi continues to be in the 'severe' category. According to System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), air quality in the national capital was recorded 'severe' on Monday, depsite the city receiving light spells of rains. The overall air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 490. An AQI between 0-50 is marked good, 51-100 is satisfactory, 101- 200 is moderate, 201- 300 is poor, 301-400 is very poor and 401-500 is considered severe.

Mumbai's Siddhivinayak temple allows 1,000 devotees from today

Only 1,000 devotees will be allowed inside famous Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai every day from today i.e. November 16, in staggered time slots to be booked through a mobile phone application, its chairman Aadesh Bandekar said on Sunday.

India slams Pakistan for deliberate attempt to shift focus from internal failures
