DRDO successfully test-fires Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile system

The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on Friday carried out a successful test of Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile system. The missile hit its target directly during the test. The missile launch took place from ITR Chandipur at 3.50 PM off the Odisha coast.

Ladakh, higher reaches of J&K receive fresh snowfall; Srinagar-Leh road closed

Fresh snowfall lashed higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on Saturday, which led to the closure of Srinagar-Leh road for traffic, while the plains were lashed by rains, officials said. Many areas in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, including the famous ski-resort of Gulmarg, north Kashmir's Baramulla district, and the tourist resort of Sonamarg in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district received snowfall which was going on when last reports came in, the officials said.

President-elect Joe Biden has wrested Georgia and President Donald Trump has retained North Carolina, major US media outlets have projected, bringing the closely-fought and bitter 2020 presidential race to a close. Manohar Lal Khattar, on visit to Himachal, rushed to hospital after respiratory issue

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who was on a visit to Himachal Pradesh, has been rushed to a hospital after he complained of "respiratory distress". According to news agency ANI, Khattar has been taken to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday celebrated Diwali with the armed forces in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer, in continuation of his set tradition since he took over in 2014. In his address from Longewala, Modi asserted India's belief in the policy of "understanding" and "making others understand" while also warning of what may follow otherwise. "But if attempts are made to test us, the reply is intense," Modi thundered as he referred to Pakistan and China. He said the entire world felt troubled by expansionist forces and expansionism that show a "distorted mindset". His unambiguous message came amid continuing standoff with China at Ladakh border.

Nagaland govt to impose Rs 100 fine on those not wearing face mask

Now, those not wearing face mask in Nagaland will have to pay a fine of Rs 100, the state government has said. Other than this, institutions without handwashing facilities too will have to pay a fine of Rs 500, with immediate effect. The Nagaland Disaster Management Authority observed that wearing masks, especially in public places, making the provision of handwashing facility by various establishments, maintaining physical distance in high-risk settings, are often not being followed which poses a serious risk of infection not only to the defaulters but also to other people around them, said Chief Secretary J Alam in an order issued on Friday.
