High-heels worn by girl led to Mysuru pre-wedding photoshoot tragedy

High-heeled sandals worn by the engaged girl seem to be the main reason behind the tragic death of a young couple who went to Mudukuthore for a pre-wedding photoshoot two days ago, the Mysuru police said. Speaking to reporters in Mysuru, Superintendent of police, C.B. Rishyant said that he was mulling over writing a letter to the irrigation department to make it "wearing life jackets" mandatory in all tourist spots wherever tourists go for coracle rides.

Estimate damages worth Rs 8k crore in Andhra due to floods, heavy rains

Heavy rains and floods have caused agricultural and infrastructural damages worth Rs 8,084 crore in Andhra Pradesh. According to a government statement, "The estimated loss is about Rs 8,084 crore, of which Rs 5,000 crore occurred due to infrastructure damages. Also, agriculture and allied sectors suffered flood damage of Rs 3,000 crore as incessant rains occurred right before the harvesting period."

Delhi reports biggest single-day jump of 8,593 COVID-19 cases; 85 more die

Delhi recorded its biggest single-day jump of 8,593 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday that took its infection tally to over 4.59 lakh, while 85 new fatalities pushed the national capital's death toll to 7,228, authorities said. The total number of cases in the city stands at 4,59,975, according to the latest health department bulletin. These fresh cases came out of 64,121 tests -- 19,304 RT-PCR and 44,817 rapid antigen -- conducted the previous day. This is the highest number of RT-PCR tests conducted in a day till date, the bulletin said.

Man shoots self in his car in Delhi's Dwarka

 A man allegedly shot himself dead inside his car in Chhawla area of Dwarka in Delhi on Wednesday afternoon, police said. Ravinder, in his early thirties, was found dead with a gunshot wound to his head and a pistol by his side, following which police was called around 12.30 pm.
