In a first, conjoined twins separated at Lucknow's KGMU after 9-hour surgery

Doctors at King George's Medical University have successfully separated conjoined twins after a nine-hour surgery. It was for the first time that such a surgery has been done in the KGMU. The babies are responding well after the surgery that ended early Tuesday. They have been kept under observation.

Delhiites wake up to blanket of smog; air quality 'very poor'

Delhi on Wednesday recorded 'very poor' air quality as the national capital woke up to a blanket of smog. The Air Quality Index was at 402 in Anand Vihar, 469 at ITO, 414 in Najafgarh, both in 'severe category' and 364 in Mandir Marg, 397 in Ashok Vihar, both in 'very poor category', as per Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

BHU to reopen in phased manner; online classes to continue

With 44,281 new cases, 512 deaths, India's COVID-19 tally crosses 86L-mark; active cases slip below 5 lakh

India on Wednesday recorded as many as 44,281 fresh coronavirus cases and 512 deaths in a day, pushing tally above 86 lakh mark, according to the Union Health Ministry data. The total coronavirus cases mount to 8,636,011 while the number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 8013783, pushing the national recovery rate to 92.69 per cent. For the first time, the number of active cases skids below 5 lakh.
