Bengaluru, Hyderabad lead in contract job opportunities: Survey

With the COVID-19 pandemic triggering a need for organisations to make structural changes in their talent strategies that boosted contractual job opportunities, a recent survey has found that Bengaluru and Hyderabad are leading in maximum demand from contractors. Bengaluru and Hyderabad retain their crowns as India's Silicon Valleys as both see maximum traction from contractors on the platform, according to a survey by contractual job marketplace Techfynder.

India-China border row headed for a resolution? 3-step disengagement plan agreed upon, report says

Bengal police to track firecracker ban violators with GPS-fitted sound monitoring devices

More than 1,000 GPS-fitted sound monitoring devices have been distributed among several police stations across West Bengal, to track people violating the firecracker ban during Kali Puja. The Calcutta High Court has banned the sale and bursting of firecrackers during Kali Puja and other upcoming festivals.

Gujarat schools, colleges to reopen from November 23

Schools in Gujarat are set to reopen high and higher secondary schools and colleges in the state from November 23, subject to adherence of COVID-19 guidelines. However, there has been no decision on reopening of primary schools. The government said it will analyse the feedback on implementation of Wednesday's decision and then decide.

Shipping Ministry renamed Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways

The Shipping Ministry has been renamed the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways by the Central government. This comes days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an announcement to this effect. According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Secretariat, maritime shipping and navigation, provision of education and training for the mercantile marine, lighthouses and lightships, administration of the ports, shipping and navigation -- including carriage of passengers, and goods on inland and national waterways -- will be under it.

Only green crackers to be sold in Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh and other cities: Uttarakhand govt

The Uttarakhand government has permitted the sale of only green crackers in cities including Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Haldwani Rudrapur and Kashipur. It has fixed a time slot of 8 pm to 10 pm on Diwali and Gurpurab during which the crackers can be burst. On Chhath, green crackers can be used from 6 am till 8 am.

Goa allows partial reopening of schools, issues SOPs

Goa government has issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for partial re-opening of schools in the state for Class X and Class XII from November 21. As per the SOP, there should not be more than 12 students in a class and suggested the odd-even formula for classes. It mentioned that students should be sensitized to maintain a safe distance in the classroom with a minimum distance of 6 feet.
