Bihar results: 'Brand Nitish' dented, what it means for BJP?

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has eclipsed the popularity of Nitish Kumar in Bihar which he enjoyed for the last 15 years, but the party, in all likelihood, will remain the 'junior' partner in the alliance. Even before the polls were held, the BJP declared that Nitish Kumar will be the Chief Minister, irrespective of the numbers. The time has come for the BJP to fulfill its promise. But why is the BJP pushing for Nitish Kumar to lead the government for another five years when it appears to be winning more seats than the JD(U) and can claim the top post?

Around 24K calls made for ambulance services since fresh surge in COVID cases in Delhi: Data

With the national capital witnessing a fresh surge in cases of COVID-19, nearly 24,000 calls have been made by people to access Delhi government-run ambulance services during emergency situations in the last two weeks in the city, according to official data. Besides, the centralised Control Room set up by the Delhi government has received over 5,000 calls to seek coronavirus-related information.

Labourer killed as building collapses in Delhi's Trinagar

A 22-year-old labourer was killed after an old building collapsed in West Delhi's Trinagar area, police said on Tuesday. The deceased identified as Virender, was among the labourers who were carrying out the renovation work of the building when suddenly the debris came crashing down, burying one of them.

Hear AAP's plea on reserving 80 pc ICU beds for COVID patients on Nov 12: SC to High Court

The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to grant any interim relief against the Delhi High Court order staying the AAP government's decision to reserve 80 per cent ICU beds in 33 private hospitals for COVID-19 patients and ordered an urgent hearing on the plea on November 12. The top court asked the AAP government to approach the Delhi High Court, directing it to hear on Thursday the plea that was earlier listed before a division bench on November 27.

Punjab revokes 'general consent' to CBI

The Congress-led government in Punjab has revoked its general consent to the Central Bureau of Investigation for probing cases in the state, joining several other non-BJP ruled states that have carried out similar moves. West Bengal, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh are among the states that have already withdrawn their "general consent" to the CBI.

India records 38,073 COVID-19 cases, 448 deaths; tally inches closer to 86 lakh-mark

India's COVID-19 caseload rose to 85,91,730 with 38,073 infections being reported in a day, while the number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 79,59,406 pushing the national recovery rate to 92.64 per cent, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday.
