J&K: Pakistan violates ceasefire along LoC, IB in Poonch, Kathua

Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing and shelling on forward posts and villages along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch and Kathua districts in violation of the ceasefire, officials said on Saturday. Mortar shelling in the Mankote sector along the LoC in Poonch started around 2.30 am, while the cross-border firing along the IB in the Hiranagar sector continued throughout the night, the officials said.

India's first solar-based water supply project launched in Arunachal Pradesh

India's first solar-based Integrated Multi-Village Water Supply Project (IMVWSP) was dedicated to the people of Arunachal Pradesh by Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Friday. The solar-based lift water supply project for 39 villages in Lower Dibang Valley district in northeastern Arunachal Pradesh was commissioned at a cost of Rs 28.50 crore.

Genetic research pilot study by Delhi hospital finds 'unexpected results'

A genetic research pilot study on cystic fibrosis (CF) conducted by a leading private facility here has found "unexpected results", hospital authorities said. CF is considered to be very rare in Indian population. This study not only shows prevalence of CF but also to a high extent, they said. "The genetic research pilot study which was done by the Institute of Medical Genetics & Genomics at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and has been published in BMC Medical Genetics, London has revealed unexpected results," the hospital said in a statement.

Magnitude 4.1 earthquake jolts Jammu and Kashmir

An earthquake of magnitude 4.1 on the Richter Scale struck Jammu and Kashmir in the wee hours on Saturday. According to the National Centre for Seismology, the tremors were felt near Pahalgam at 04:29 hours. The exact epicentre of the earthquake was not known.

Haj 2021: Apply for online application from November 7 to December 10

The Haj Committee of India has issued the action plan for Haj pilgrimage 2021 with precautionary measures in place due to the coronavirus pandemic. The guidelines will be issued soon. The online application process for Haj 2021 will start on November 7 that will continue till December 10. The last date to submit the medical certificate is January 1, 2021.
