Unruly scenes in Haryana Assembly over duration of session, farm laws

Unruly scenes were witnessed in the Haryana Assembly on Thursday over the duration of the session and the farm laws enacted by the Centre with the opposition Congress staging a walkout from the House. During the first day of the second part of the monsoon session, the Congress objected to the two-day duration of the session. After the report of the Business Advisory Committee was tabled in the House, senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda rose from his seat and asked the Speaker why the duration of the session has been kept for just two days.

Museums, art galleries to reopen from November 10: Culture Ministry

The Ministry of Culture on Thursday issued detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) for reopening of museums, art galleries, and exhibitions under it, on preventive measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, based on the Unlock 5.0 guidelines. They have been closed since March 17.

Noida, Faridabad air quality very poor, severe in Ghaziabad

COVAXIN, India's first indigenous coronavirus vaccine, could be launched as early as February

India's own coronavirus vaccine COVAXIN developmed by Bharat Biotech could be launched as early as February 2021 after the last stage trials began a couple of weeks ago, Reuters said a senior government official has informed. According to Reuters, a senior ICMR scientist Rajni Kant said, "The vaccine has shown good efficacy. It is expected that by the beginning of next year, February or March, something would be available." Rajni is also a member of ICMR's coronavirus vaccine task-force.

262 students test positive after schools reopen in Andhra Pradesh; Govt says not alarming

As many as 262 students and about 160 teachers tested positive in Andhra Pradesh during the past three days after schools were reopened on November 2 for class 9 and 10 students, a senior official of the school education said on Thursday. Commissioner of School Education V Chinna Veerabhadrudu said the figure is not alarming when compared to the number of students attending the schools, though every care is being taken to ensure COVID-19 safety protocols are in place in every institution.
