Delhi reported more than 600 cases of dengue, other vector-borne diseases till October this year

Delhi has recorded more than 600 cases of dengue till date this year, according to official data. Out of the total, 346 cases have been reported in October, it said. The number of cases of dengue this year has been lower compared to the situation in previous years. According to data shared by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), the nodal agency that tabulates data on vector-borne diseases for the city, 612 cases of dengue has been recorded in Delhi till October 31.

Delhi records highest single-day spike of 6,725 Covid cases

The national capital on Tuesday reported the highest single-day spike of 6,725 Covid-19 cases, taking the total tally to 4,03,096. The capital city had witnessed a slight decrease in cases with 4,001 new infections on Monday after logging over 5,000 cases for five days in a row. Delhi had recorded 5,891 new cases on October 30.

Sikh activist, who tried hoisting tricolour on PDP office, detained

A Sikh activist, who tried to hoist the national flag atop the PDP office here during a protest against remarks by its chief Mehbooba Mufti on the tricolour, was detained by police on Tuesday, officials said. On October 24, Amandeep Singh had hoisted the national flag on the boundary wall near the main entrance of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) office and a day later, he along with some youths attempted to hoist it on the party's headquarters, but were stopped by police.

Counting of votes in the Rajasthan Nagar Nigam Election 2020 in 6 municipal corporations of Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota was held today. The polling for the posts of councillors were held in two phases on October 29 and November 1. A total of 560 wards are there in six Nagar Nigams including Jaipur Heritage, Jaipur Greater, Jodhpur North, Jodhpur South, Kota North, and Kota South. Polling for the post of mayors will take place on November 10 while for the deputy mayors on November 11.

Farm laws: With Prez refusing appointment, Punjab CM to lead dharna at Rajghat

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh will lead a relay 'dharna' of Congress MLAs at Delhi's Rajghat on Wednesday following President Ram Nath Kovind’s refusal to meet a delegation led by him over the Centre’s farm laws. The Chief Minister's Office had on on October 21 sought an appointment for Singh and his delegation with the President on November 4 to urge him to grant his assent to Punjab's farm bills passed last month by the state assembly in a bid to negate the Centre’s three new agricultural laws.

Delhi airport starts COVID-19 testing for passengers before departure

Domestic and international passengers taking their flights from the Delhi airport can now get themselves tested for COVID-19 right before their departure, its operator DIAL said on Tuesday. The COVID-19 testing facility at the Delhi airport started on September 12 and it was available for international arrivals only till date.

Two labourers became millionaires after they unearthed two diamonds weighing 7.44 and 14.98 carats at mines in Madhya Pradesh's Panna district, an official said on Tuesday. Dilip Mistry extracted the 7.44 carat stone from a mine in Jaruapur, while Lakhan Yadav mined a 14.98 carat one in Krishna Kalyanpur area, diamond inspector Anupam Singh said.
