Delhi-Mumbai trains affected as Gujjars begin agitation demanding MBC quota reservation

Gujjars on Sunday began their agitation, demanding the fulfilment of their pending demands, including reservation under MBC quota and clearing of a backlog of recruitments, among others, which affected the Delhi-Mumbai rail connectivity on Sunday. In the afternoon, hundreds of Gujjars gathered at Pilupura in Bharatpur on the call given by Samiti's Col Kirori Singh Bainsla (retd). Some youths also damaged the fishplates, affecting the smooth railway traffic on the route.

Stubble burning now contributing to 40 per cent in Delhi's air pollution

Stubble burning has peaked in the neighbouring states of Delhi and its share in the pollution level in the national capital has risen to 40 per cent, the Ministry of Earth Sciences' air quality monitoring agency SAFAR said on Sunday. "Stubble burning share in PM 2.5 has increased and is estimated at 40 per cent for today, the highest of the season," said the SAFAR, adding 3,216 farm fires were spotted over Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Saturday.

Rajasthan lockdown: Schools, colleges to remain closed till Nov 16; multiplexes, cinema halls till Nov 30

'Pakistan camouflaging illegal occupation': India slams Islamabad's move to alter Gilgit-Baltistan's status

India on Sunday firmly rejected Pakistan's move of granting fifth provisional-provincial status to Gilgit-Baltistan and said that it is Islamabad's attempt to camouflage its illegal occupation. In a strong reply to the Pak administration, spokesperson of the ministry of external affairs Anurag Srivastava further said that the Islamic nation can't hide grave human rights violations and denial of freedom for over seven decades to people residing in these Pakistan occupied territories.
