Delhi: Doctors' Association defers indefinite strike in 'public interest'

The Municipal Corporation Doctors' Association (MCDA) on Sunday said the indefinite strike by its members over pending salaries, scheduled to begin from October 19, has been deferred in "public interest". On October 14, the MCDA had threatened that its members would go on an indefinite strike if their demands were not met.

Delhi's air quality improves to 'poor' with wind speed; stubble burning likely to increase

Air quality in the national capital was recorded 'poor' on Monday, even as pollution levels dipped slightly due to favourable wind speed. However, the share of stubble burning in the city's pollution is likely to increase, according to the Ministry of Earth Sciences' Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi. On Sunday, a central government agency reported 1,230 farm fires in Delhi's neighbouring states -- the maximum in a day so far this season.

Now travel directly from Goa to London

Flyers will now be able to avail air services between Goa and London. Air India has started direct flight services between the two cities on a weekly basis. It is soon expected to turn into a bi-weekly service from November under the Air Bubble agreement.

India reports 55,722 new COVID-19 cases, 579 deaths in a day; tally crosses 75 lakh-mark

India on Monday recorded as many as 55,722 new infections while 579 people succumbed due to deadly coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to Union health ministry data. The COVID-19 tally has crossed 75 lakh-mark while death toll breached 1-lakh mark. India's recoveries from the novel coronavirus moved past the 66 lakh-mark on Monday. Also, for the third consecutive day, the active cases of COVID-19 remained below 8 lakh in 1.5 months.
