Frightening scenes in Hyderabad: Cars float in flooded streets as overnight rains devastate city

Scary scenes were witnessed in Hyderabad and adjoining areas after overnight rains devastated the city. On Saturday evening, several areas in the metropolis received heavy showers, triggering traffic snarls and water-logging. In its forecast for Sunday, the Met office said light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur in some parts of the city, at times intense spells at one or two places in the city.

Govt amends J&K Panchayati Raj Act: Here's what changes

The government on Saturday amended the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act to provide for setting up of District Development Councils in each district which will have directly elected members. This would mark the implementation of the entire 73rd Amendment Act in the union territory. According to an official spokesman, the District Development Councils (DDCs) of each district will have 14 constituencies after their delimitation by the respective deputy commissioners.
