One arrested in Ballia shooting case; BJP MLA admits accused is party member

The Uttar Pradesh police on Friday arrested one person in connection with the Ballia shooting incident. The arrested person was identified as Devendra Pratap Singh, while police have also named eight other people in the FIR. According to the details, nearly 20 people have also been listed in the complaint. Meanwhile, BJP MLA Surendra Singh on Friday said, “This is a casualty that can happen anywhere. In this incident, there was stone-pelting from both sides. The law will take its own course in the matter.”

Bihar Minister Kapil Dev Kamat succumbs to COVID-19

Prominent Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader Kapil Dev Kamat passed away on Friday in a hospital in the Bihar capital. He was 69. Kamat, the Minister of Panchayati Raj in the Nitish Kumar government, was admitted in Patna AIIMS after suffering from kidney infection. He was undergoing dialysis every alternate day. His condition deteriorated after he got infected with Covid-19. Kamat was on a ventilator for the last few days.

Wind speed brings slight improvement in Delhi's air quality

Pollution levels reduced slightly in the national capital on Friday with favourable wind speed helping in the dispersion of pollutants, according to India Meteorological Department officials. The city recorded an air quality index (AQI) of 251 at 10 am. The 24-hour average AQI was 315 on Thursday, the worst since February 12 (AQI 320). An AQI between 0 and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.

Even Pakistan, Afghanistan handled COVID better than India: Rahul on IMF projections

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a dig at the Centre on Friday over IMF's projection that the Indian economy is set to contract by a massive 10.3 per cent this year, saying it was another "solid achievement" by the government. Over 2,000 rescued as incessant rains cripple Telangana; death toll nears 50
