Goa cinema halls not to reopen until new films release

Even as the Goa government has allowed re-opening of cinema halls from Thursday as per the Centre's guidelines, theatre owners in the state have said the facilities will not open until new films release. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told reporters on Tuesday that theatres would be re-opened in Goa from October 15, while casinos will remain shut till further orders.

'Solid achievement' of BJP's 'hate-filled cultural nationalism': Rahul Gandhi on IMF projections

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday took a dig at the government over IMF growth projections showing Bangladesh closing in on India in terms of per capita GDP this year and described it as a "solid achievement" of six years of BJP's "hate-filled cultural nationalism". Gandhi also shared a graph citing its source as the International Monetary Fund's World Economic Outlook report which showed Bangladesh closing in on India and almost catching up with it in terms of per capita GDP this year.

Glenmark Pharma on Wednesday announced the launch of its generic version of Nintedanib (NINDANIB), used for the treatment of pulmonary fibrosis, in India. "Glenmark being a leader in the area of respiratory has been amongst the first to launch the branded generic version at an affordable cost for the treatment of pulmonary fibrosis in India,” it said in a regulatory filing.

Hoax bomb threat to Tamil stars Dhanush, Vijayakanth

Houses of Tamil stars Dhanush and Vijayakanth in Chennai were searched on Tuesday after the actors reported of receiving bomb threats. Following the searches, the police found it to be a hoax. According to the details, the police control room had received two anonymous calls, informing them of bombs being placed inside Dhanush's Abhiramapuram house in Chennai and Vijayakanth's house in Virugambakkam.

Upper Ganga Canal in Haridwar to remain closed from October 15 to November 15

Upper Ganga Canal will remain closed from the midnight of October 15 to midnight of November 15 for repair and maintenance work ahead of Haridwar Kumbh 2021. According to a letter sent by the special secretary of Uttar Pradesh Mushtaq Ahmed to Chief Engineer and Head of Irrigation and Water Resources Department of the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has issued orders for the closure of the Upper Ganga Canal and said that it will remain closed from the midnight of October 15 to midnight of November 15.
