Upper Ganga Canal in Haridwar to remain closed from October 15 to November 15

Upper Ganga Canal will remain closed from the midnight of October 15 to midnight of November 15 for repair and maintenance work ahead of Haridwar Kumbh 2021. According to a letter sent by the special secretary of Uttar Pradesh Mushtaq Ahmed to Chief Engineer and Head of Irrigation and Water Resources Department of the state, the Uttar Pradesh government has issued orders for the closure of the Upper Ganga Canal and said that it will remain closed from the midnight of October 15 to midnight of November 15.

'Quran' cannot be taught at the cost of govt money: Himanta Sarma on madrassas shut down in Assam

Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Tuesday that if the state government is bearing the cost of teaching the Quran in madrassas, then Bible and Bhagavad Gita should also be taught by the government. Sarma said, "In my opinion, teaching 'Quran' can't happen at the cost of government money, if we have to do so then we should also teach both the Bible and Bhagavad Gita. So, we want to bring uniformity and stop this practice."

Hindu Rao Hospital removed from list of COVID-19 facilities in Delhi

Civic-run Hindu Rao Hospital, whose resident doctors are currently agitating over due salaries, was on Tuesday removed from the list of COVID-19 facilities by the Delhi government. North Delhi Mayor Jai Prakash said, the general OPD services resumed at the facility and nearly "160 patients visited". The Delhi government's health department in an order issued on Tuesday said, in view of the surge in COVID-19 cases then, Bara Hindu Rao Hospital was declared as a designated hospital on June 14.

3 suspected cases of corona reinfection 'described' in India: ICMR

Three cases of suspected coronavirus reinfection -- two in Mumbai and one in Ahmedabad -- have been "described" in India, the country's apex medical research body said on Tuesday. Director-General Balram Bhargava said the Indian Council of Medical Research had decided upon a cutoff of 100 days for reinfection if it occurs as, according to some studies, antibodies were also assumed to have a life of four months.

11 killed following incessant rains in Telangana; streets, low-lying areas waterlogged

At least 11 people have died in Telangana following incessant rains that lashed several parts of the state, leading to waterlogging on roads and inundation of some low-lying areas.
