India records 74,383 COVID-19 cases, 918 deaths in a day; tally crosses 70-lakh mark

India's COVID-19 caseload sprinted past the 70-lakh mark on Sunday. The total number of recoveries too crossed 60 lakh, according to data from states and union territories.

PM Modi to launch property cards under SVAMITVA scheme today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the physical distribution of Property Cards under the SVAMITVA Scheme today, via video conferencing. The launch will enable around one lakh property holders to download their property cards through the SMS link delivered on their mobile phones. This will be followed by physical distribution of the property cards by the respective state governments. Prime Minister will also be interacting with some of the beneficiaries during the event. Union Minister for Panchayati Raj will be present on the occasion. The programme will commence from 11 AM.

India's COVID-19 caseload goes past 7 million-mark; recoveries over 6 mn

The coronavirus tally in India moved past the 70-lakh mark on Saturday, according to data from states and union territories. The total number of recoveries too have crossed 60 lakh. The figures are yet to be updated in the Union Health Ministry's official data which will be released post 9 am.

5.3 magnitude earthquake hit Manipur, Mizoram; no damage reported

Goa: 1 worker dies, 4 injured in ammonia gas leak in factory

One worker died and four others were critically injured after ammonia gas leaked in a seafood processing unit at Cuncolim industrial estate in South Goa, police said on Saturday. The incident occurred in the wee hours of Friday, they said.

Karauli priest's family refuses to perform last rites until their demands are met

Family members of priest Babulal, who was allegedly burnt alive by land encroachers in Karauli's Bukna village on Thursday night, have refused to perform the last rites of his body till all their demands are met by the state government. "We won't perform the last rites of the body until our demands are met. We want Rs 50 lakhs compensation and a government job. All accused must be arrested and action should be taken against the Patwari and policemen who are supporting the accused. We want protection," Lalit, a relative of priest Babulal said.
