9 injured in Bhubaneswar petrol pump fire

Nine people were injured, two of them critically, in a major fire that broke out at an Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) petrol pump near the Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday, police said. Five fire engines along with Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force personnel doused the flame after fighting it for about two hours, fire department sources said. Commissioner of Police SS Sarangi said the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Mumbai dabbawalas, consulates staff allowed to travel in local trains

Mumbai's dabbawalas and staff of foreign consulates and high commissions have been allowed to travel in local trains which are currently being run only for essential services staff, officials said on Wednesday. Dabbawalas, the famous lunch-box carriers in Mumbai, last month said there was never a six-month break in the "130 -year-old history of the tiffin services", and demanded access to local trains to resume their services in full capacity.

Woman, 8-month-old ill son die after self-immolation in Jharkhand

A25-year-old woman and her eight-month-old son died after she set herself and the child on fire in Jharkhand's Jamtara district, police said on Wednesday. The incident took place in Suriyapani village in Nala police station area on Tuesday, a police officer said.

IRCTC's Tejas 'corporate trains' to resume services from October 17

IRCTC said Wednesday it will restart the first set of "private" Tejas Express trains from October 17, seven months after the Lucknow-New Delhi and Ahmedabad-Mumbai services were suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. It said every alternate seat on the two trains will be kept vacant to ensure social distancing and passengers will be thermally screened before entering the coach and not allowed to exchange their seats once seated.
