Opinion | Hathras rape: Yogi must win the trust of victim’s family

The UP government on Saturday morning lifted the ban on the entry of media personnel inside the gang-rape victim’s village near Hathras. In view of Section 144 prohibitory orders in the village, not more than five media persons will be allowed to gather at a single place, the local SDM Prem Prakash Meena said. The entry of delegations of political parties and other social organisations will remain banned in view of the law and order situation, he added.

India maintains top global ranking with maximum COVID-19 recoveries, lowest mortality rate

India continues to occupy the top global position with the maximum number of COVID-19 recoveries and accounts for 21 per cent of the recovered cases worldwide, while its share in the total cases stands at 18.6 per cent, the Union health ministry said on Saturday. India has also maintained its global position with one of the lowest COVID-19 case fatality rates (CFR) when compared to several other countries. While the global CFR stands at 2.97 per cent as on date, the comparative figure for India is 1.56 per cent, it said.

UPSC students can board Delhi Metro from 6 am tomorrow to reach exam centres

The Delhi Metro will begin its services on all lines from 6 am tomorrow (Sunday), in order to facilitate the students set to appear for UPSC examinations. The development was confirmed through a statement by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Twitter, which read, "To facilitate students for the UPSC examinations, Delhi Metro services will begin at 6 AM from terminal stations of all lines on 4th October."

Andhra: 14 minor students, their parents contract virus after COVID positive couple holds tuition classes

As many as 14 students in Andhra Pradesh have tested positive for COVID-19, apparently through their tuition teacher. According to the officials, the students, all below 12 years of age were attending tuition classes run by a couple in Guntur district of the state. The couple had earlier tested COVID positive. Now, parents of a few of those students have also tested coronavirus positive, the officials said.

RBI loan moratorium: Centre agrees to waive off interest for loans up to ₹2 crore

The Centre has agreed to waive off compounded interest for loans up to Rs 2 crore, frozen by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in a six-month moratorium granted because of the coronavirus pandemic, the government has told Supreme Court in an affidavit. The Centre also said it will consult SEBI on whether companies can be given relief on credit rating downgrades for moratorium period.
