Some don't want farmers to earn more profit, sell produce anywhere in country: PM Modi slams Oppn

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday lashed out at those opposing the newly passed farm bills in the recently concluded Parliament session saying these people are insulting farmers and do not want them (farmers) to sell their produce anywhere in the country. PM Modi's remark came in wake of protests over new farm bills when some protesters said to be related to Congress' youth wing set a tractor on fire near India Gate in New Delhi on Monday.

Opinion | Centre must remove fears from the minds of farmers

Fake dramas are being enacted on the streets by some opposition parties in the guise of farmers’ protest against farm bills. On Monday, a tractor was set ablaze by Punjab Youth Congress workers in the high-security zone of Delhi’s Rajpath, near India Gate. Despite the presence of heavy police security, a few cars along with a truck carrying a tractor reached the spot at around 7.30 am. The tractor was dropped on the road from the truck, and the agitators set it ablaze even before the police could react. Fire brigade personnel reached the spot and doused the flames.

Serum Institute of India to produce additional 100 million COVID-19 vaccine doses for India

The Serum Institute of India (SII) on Tuesday said it would produce upto an additional 100 million COVID-19 vaccine doses for India in 2021. Other than for India, the COVID-19 vaccines will also be produced for low and middle-income countries, the Serum Institute of India said. Further, the SII said the development takes forward the collaboration between SII, Gavi, Vaccine Alliance and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday termed the death of Hathras gangrape victim a matter of shame for the country as well as for the governments and demanded the hanging of the guilty. The 19-year-old Dalit woman died at a Delhi hospital on Tuesday morning, days after being raped by four men in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh, a senior police officer said.

Delhi Jal Board issues notices to govt depts over pending bills of Rs 6,811 cr

Delhi Jal Board vice-chairman Raghav Chadha on Tuesday said the DJB has issued notices to several central government departments, including Railways and Delhi Police, and municipal corporations asking them to clear dues amounting to Rs 6,811 crore within 30 days. Addressing a press conference, Chadha said the notices were also issued to the Central Public Works Department and the Delhi Development Authority between September 1 and September 15.
